NSC probably sent applications to CSC for data entry, I am a july 2 filer, my EAD(I131)/AP(I765) and all receipt notices were sent to me by CSC all are WAC### numbers which means its from CSC, then they sent just the AOS (I485) back to NSC saying they do not have Jurisdiction on the AOS application (Logic behind this is - because my I140 was approved by NSC, I have a LIN### on I140 application).

This transfers happens in the 4 centers all the time no need to worry, there is delay associated though... :(

Anywayz all said and done... I have not received my FP notice as yet...My Receipt Notice date : Aug23

I filed at Nebraska for 485, my 140 is approved by --I donot know but the receipt notice number starts with SRC, i think texas.
My application transferred from NSC to CSC and back to NSC.
Should I expect my application be transferred now to TSC as my I140 was approved there?
The delay is the pain..... and it continues... NO FP yet.

Howz one to live a moral and compassionate existence when one is fully aware of the blood, the horror inherent in life, when one finds darkness not only in onez culture but within oneself? If there is a stage at which an individual life becomes truly adult, it must be when one grasps the irony in its unfolding and accepts responsibility for a life lived in the midst of such paradox. One must live in the middle of contradiction, because if all contradiction were eliminated at once life would collapse. There r simply no answers to some of the great pressing questions. You continue to live them out, making your life a worthy expression of leaning into the light.

One of the contradictions is NOT obtaining a Green Card.

Very well said. Now go back and sleep tight. Come back here tomorrow and see if the garbge you wrote makes any sense on this forum.

    Thanks,
    Jayant

So this confirms FIRMLY that antis and BusinessWeek are working in tandem against legal immigration reform. Sometime back.. I read that BusinessWeek is for sale.. by McGraw Hill (its parent company). I wish.. that sale happens soon and let common sense prevail. Probably they are trying too hard to shore up their subscriber base by evoking the last resort.. creating sensation with meaningless issues.

If the sale takes place, it probably will be bought by either a Chinese or Indian company. Some dumb anti-immigrationists will try to block legal migration every possible way when most of their companies are either taking jobs overseas or getting sold to foreign companies. Go and find the source of what has destroyed the economy and try to fix it. No foreigner has ruined the economy.

In the same lines as H1B, could we look into if its possible to add a quota for US Masters degree holders irrespective of country of birth for green Card also. This would be in addition to the existing Employment based quotas.
Does anyone know how they added 20k H1B quota for Masters degree holders? Who sponsored that bill? May be we should talk to the same people.

I would think there would be a little less resistance for this? This would ease the pressure on both EB2 and EB3.

I dont know if this has been previously looked at. I know there were talks of excluding these people from quota all together.

U.S. Proposes Rise in Immigration Fees (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/30/AR2007013001762.html).

    By SUZANNE GAMBOA
    The Associated Press
    Wednesday, January 31, 2007; 2:47 AM

WASHINGTON -- Becoming an American citizen could soon cost almost twice as much.

The Bush administration will propose nearly doubling the fee charged applicants for U.S. citizenship and significantly increasing fees for other immigration benefits, congressional and administration officials said Tuesday.

Fees for a wide variety of immigration services would rise an average of 66 percent, said two government officials who did not want to be named in advance of the administration's formal announcement of the proposal Wednesday.

The current fee of $330 to apply for citizenship would rise to slightly less than $600, an administration official said. Other fee increases are possible for green cards conveying legal residency, which now cost $325.

Applicants also now pay a $70 fingerprinting fee in each case. Fees also are paid for things such as work permits, replacing lost green cards and petitions to adopt orphans from other countries.

The proposed fee increases would not be final until after a public comment period.

Congressional Democrats last week warned in a letter to Emilio Gonzalez, director of the Homeland Security Department's Citizenship and Immigration Services, that they planned to review the agency's analyses behind any proposed immigration fee increases.

The letter was signed by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., immigration subcommittee chairman Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., and immigration subcommittee chairwoman Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif.

Immigration advocates have been bracing for the expected jump in fees. William Ramos, Washington director for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, said the increases are "just going to be devastating to our communities."

"It will basically create another obstacle for those who want to realize their dream of becoming American citizens," Ramos said.

Citizenship and Immigration Services covers its costs with application fees. The agency is required to do a fee analysis every two years to determine whether money raised from fees is covering costs. The agency last raised its fees in 2004, citing the cost of more intense background checks in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Immigrant advocates long have argued that the agency's costs cannot be absorbed by application fees. They want Congress to appropriate money to help pay costs.

Large fee increases would be heavily felt in the Asian community, where two-thirds of the population in the U.S. is foreign-born, said Traci Hong, director of the immigration program for the Asian American Justice Center.

About 70 percent of foreign-born Asians in the country become American citizens, a high rate for immigrants. Hong worried that higher naturalization fees would slow that rate.

Also I heard a rumor that they are going to allow filing of i-485 for review first and then let you wait for the visa number. Hope it is true!

Piece meal is our best/only option for the next 2 years. We have to keep track of the legal bills being introduced and campaign for them. I don't think CIR will make it in lameduck too. Republicans would like to enforce border security and employer, internal monitoring, before any king of path to legal status for illegals.

lets stop this rhetoric on repubs, what about bobby jindal, marco rubio & nick haley and plz don't give explanations to distort the reality, many in the republicans sincerely support legal immigration, tell me few good things dems did to legal immigrants, aint regan the one who gave amnesty to illegals in 80s, aint bush the one who tried more than once to pass CIR, who opposed h1b fee increase recently?

Yes I agree, we should be neutral on party as an organization. Also the enhanced H1b, monitoring RFE, etc was introduced due to body shops misusing visas and not paying on bench. Think of it as an extended background check due to the misuse.
I feel republicans would sincerely welcome qualified immigrants. Some of their views on protecting the border have been distorted out of propotion due to politics.
What we need to do is enhance our reputation with both Republicans and Democrats and get them to help us.

    suresh.emails,

I said in my earlier post that I will think about it. This is what I have to say.

There are things that can be measured in single dimension say on x-axis. Say you have to buy a car and you have to ask yourself a question – which car do I like to buy? Say you like Honda as compared to other cars. Your likeability of Honda or such cars could be measured on the positive side of the x-axis and likewise, if you don’t like some car, that can be measured on the negative side on the x-axis. Now, there could be another dimension to the situation, say, what is the car model in question, if it is a civic or maybe accord, accord, CRV, Odyssey, Element or whatever. Now if you ask yourself that question again – which car do I like? This time you need two dimensions to answer the question which Honda model you like and which you don’t like. Foe the sake of clarity you can do this on the X&Y-axis. But say if there is a choice of multiple colors. You would have to now think/plot a 3-dimention model, say a cube, because you may like a model of Honda in one color but you may not like the same color in another model. Now there could be other combinations, say which year make or whether it is a sedan/coupe or the cost factor or resale value, mileage, new/old, dealership, goodies, experience of your friends/well-wishers etc. etc. etc. So there could be multiple dimensions analysis to answer a 7 word question - which car do I like to buy?

The reason I say this is, even situations which otherwise seem simple require multiple dimensions of analysis. And there could be many more dimensions that we do not know or we do not understand. But say, you ignore all dimensions to every situation, and judge every situation in a single dimension analysis - whether or not you like something or not? If you don’t like it, that something has to be wrong. If you like it, that something is right. It can be easily identified on the x-axis. Simple, isn’t it. Life would be so much easier; it would be so much fun.

But here is the problem. With single dimension analysis of every situation, we will all be wrong most of the time. Since our childhood, maybe that’s why we were sent to school to get educated so that we could gain the knowledge & wisdom which could help us to apply more than one dimension to every situation and we could gain the ability to evaluate and analyze things around us “intelligently” – in multi-dimension.

Your single dimension analysis of -ve comments situation is, you don't like them and that's why the entire system HAS to be wrong. You see what I am saying.

It’s ok to express in the any forum and if you don’t like a forum, as in this case you don’t like reputation system, you have the choice to totally ignore it and not look at it at all. But you chose to look at the reputation system maybe because you continue to be mindful of your reputation on the anonymous forum, but then you continue to complain about the existense of the red dot system. It’s the choice you make. And then you apply single dimension analysis – if you don’t like a comment, there is something wrong with the guy who posted a negative comment and the reputation system and the IV and everyone around us. And because you are not happy, you think it is ok to curse everyone saying that the entire immigration system cannot be fixed because IV has reputation system. You know, I have to tell you, you are pretty good.

The reason I say all this is, I have fundamental difference with the folks who do not like reputation system but continue to look at it and complain about it, even when they have the choice not to look at the reputation system. The problem doesn’t end there. Every week there is someone complaining about the reputations left for that guy, and I just have an intellectual disagreement with that behavior. And I do not have anything against you or anyone else, I am sure you are a good man with a kind heart.

Many here are getting confused between PPF ( public providend fund) and CPF in India. CPF is a company specific like 401 K. When you leave or resign, you transfer the money to your new employer or leave it back with the old company and the interest rate given is according to the RBI prevailing interest rate. You do not have to deal with any agency other than your employer to manipulate this money.

PPF is for self employed and well for salaried people and this account can be created in a Post Office or a State Bank of India District Office. I have had accounts in PPF and CPF and never had to pay a rupee to get any of that money or to draw a loan..!

Growing economies have their own set of challenges, so please do not trash the system if you faced challenges in the past, things are changing fast and changing for the good in the developing world. Remember what a nightmare it was to get your railway reservation done? Now , I buy my rail as well as air line tickets sitting right here in USA while I plan my trip.

Now coming back to the point of Social Secuirty, you might refer to the agreements that US has with countries like UK where the actual money contributed to the retirement fund does not get trasferred but credit is given in one's own country for retirement benefits and the final fund transfer takes place between the goverments at the end of the year based on a formula ( This forumla is adjusted based on various economic factors). It works both ways for UK and US citizens as there is a great deal of personnel working cross country.

If things go ahead with India on this issue, it would be interesting to watch the options that would be considered as Indian Govt does not any defined 'benefit retirement' plan which could reciprocate the retirement benefit for US citizens working in India. Goverments get interested in these kind of reciprocatory credit programs either based on political or economic reasons. If US is anticipating that the number of US Citizens going to India for work will increase at the same rate as the Indians in USA, they would be interested in looking at this issue; else there is no incentive for US goverment to cut checks to Indian Goverment from a SS Fund that is already depleted and broke.

    Mihird:

Those are good points. We are not all Indian or Chinese on this website and in my case I moved to the US because of insecurity in my country (got kidnapped twice). If I went back there I could have a top job with a top company (and have had many offers) but that is not a place where I'd like to raise a family.

Before the US I almost moved to China, but then I got the US job offer. I now have the Canada option, but I wouldn't mind moving to India. I have lots of Indian friends and I think Indians are easily one of the very nicest people in the world while being smart too (not conceited), plus they speak English. (Nothing against China, but it would take me at least 3 years to learns OK Chinese)

Anyone have any advice about finding a job in India? (I am serious) I have to have options since my home country is not an option, and in case Canada doesn't work for me. If anyone can give me information on moving to India I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

    Dear IV folks,

After a long long 7 years I finally received my Green Card y'day.
If not anything... this process does forcefully teach patience, hope, anger mgnt & gives a new understanding of terms UNFAIR & UNJUST.
My app did experience all the delays ..Backlog centers, company change, date portability, NameCheck..
For expediting Namecheck & Serv. ticket I had written/fax/calls to almost everyone in govt. White House, First Lady, DHS Dir, TSC Dir, USCIS Dir, Senator...
Not sure if anything worked, but finally 180 day rule might have helped.

Finally ...it's a great sense of relief.
I was desperately needing it now as I wanted MBA loan & change of field etc.

Special thanks to pappu, logiclife, berkeleybee,Googler ...you guys are the lighthouses in this long tempest.
It's amazing that someone whom you don't know & have never met, inspire & guide so many others.

All the very best to everyone & I hope everyone gets their GC in a FAIR order - FIFO -.

    God bless you all.

I am trying to understand the cause for this huge delay to issue either EAD or AP. Could it be due to a large number of I-485 filers in July 2007 that the agency is unable to handle the volume of requests (either for a new one or renewal)?

Has USCIS come up with any explanation as to why there is lot of delay to issue EAD renewals or new EADs? Could it be the US economy that is causing the drag on the agency?

It is not good idea. In DS-156 you need to specify whether you are married or not. And also you need to specify if spouse/brother/sister.. is there is US.

Congrats suresh..it's good to see Dec 05 getting approved..best option would be to get your wife here on F1..Some of the schools required only TOEFL ..after coming to US get married again in US and apply for 485..if she is currently working in india..u can try L1 too....ofcourse for H-1B u need to wait for one more year..i don't think US embassy in Chennai will get to know u got married unless she tells them..there is no fraud or anything in this..i believe it's like..don't ask, don't say..ur not cheating anyone..trying to find a small loop hole for a very good reason..
