ramus, follow my posts in the past 20 days and you will see i have posted many posts for this AP expedite. I have a travel coming up shortly and I had only exactly 90 days from the date of application and date of travel. My application was approved recently along with my spouse. There is even a post where I listed out all the steps I took to expedite and finally finally only the local congressman phone to USCIS helped. its just unbelievable, but its possible. I have tickets that even if you postpone the journey I will lose money. I said to myself enough we lose with USCIS, and so decided to take all and any steps to expedite and get it done. just follow my posts (like start reading my past 20 posts) and I am sure you will find it useful. It is dark age for immigrants in America. They are just inventing ways to harass people. There shouldn't be a reason to issue EAD or AP in time. They have increased the fees several folds in recent years. They want us to run pillar to post for everything, be it work permit, travel document, driver's license...Just discouraging aliens to live in this country.I am trying to understand the cause for this huge delay to issue either EAD or AP. Could it be due to a large number of I-485 filers in July 2007 that the agency is unable to handle the volume of requests (either for a new one or renewal)?
Has USCIS come up with any explanation as to why there is lot of delay to issue EAD renewals or new EADs? Could it be the US economy that is causing the drag on the agency?

At least some good news are arriving prior to the X'mas holiday! :p
This might have a huge impact on people who held a H4 b4 switching to H1B!

They decoupled the H2->h1 and the L2->L1. But not H4->L1 or L2->H1.
Even though their reasoning for doing it applies to these cases too.

The person looking at this letter might spend like 10 to 15 seconds glancing at it.
So we need to include like a subject line that in one sentence or two captures the essence of our issue(s). Something like:

For AP renewal, do I need to send photos by mail again? I thought USCIS uses the picture on file. Folks please correct me if I am wrong. Could some one PM me the letter format?

I dont care about the fees. anything under 1000$ for 485 filing is cheap. I am happy they are in the process of eliminating substitution since this will reduce lcs. also higher the fees lesser the abuse of the system where one employee makes different employers file for h1s and gcs. I fully support the hike!

Members from NY/NJ/CT, please join the yahoo group. Murli and others are leading a strong campain. We need more support.
Always check with your state chapters.
State chapter leaders are more aware of our work than what we post on the forum for public.
There is lot of activity going on at this time. Everyone must join their state chapters to actively participate in IV effort.

good point in item 4. When i talk to people from other countries about visa issues and IV they just look at the processing dates for 485 and think that GC will be approved in 6 months.
I wish that were the case. Unfortunately visa number is allotted only after EVERYTHING else is done and that is why we have to endure additional suffering i.e. even if your case is ready for approval it will remain pending because visa number is unavailable.

ofcourse, just normal rescheduling is absolutely do-able.
i think our friend is trying for Emergency so that wife can get appt in chennai only.

I think as with all certifications, the effort you put into getting the certification teaches you a lot. It is debatable as to if the certificate itself has any value. It is kind of like going to college, the degree just gives a 3rd party assertion that you did what you say you did.
I must admit that I have not maintained my PMP certification and it has lapsed over the last two years. I just found it very utopian and not very practical. Maybe that is the way it is designed to be. I also got my PMP after spending 5 years successfully rolling out two CMM level 5 assesments and one ISO 9001 certification for my employers. PMP for me was just a way of having someone endorse me and my skills. Over time I found it to be relatively useless unless you hang out at the various PMI meets to do some effective networking.
If you are a project lead, or someone stepping up to a managerial level, this could really give you a big boost, an endorsement of your life experiences and skills. If you have already been a PM in a CMM5 or ISO9001 organization, you probably already follow most of the best practices and the PMP can't add much more to your life.
