Hi Guys,
I am not sure if this is the trend everywhere only in TX. The DPS - Department of public Safety which is issuing Driving License started asking for the Employment Verification or latest Pay Slip. I asked the officer if its the new requirement and she replied Yes, its started recently. If you are in H1 or H4 visa, you need to prove that you are still in job and getting paid. One more nail in the coffin.

Agreed, but still there is a quota in place for STEM graduates in H1-B regardless of the university rating/quality. The law makers/USCIS approved it - so there must be something in it that appeals to them. :rolleyes:

I said in my earlier post that I will think about it. This is what I have to say.
There are things that can be measured in single dimension say on x-axis. Say you have to buy a car and you have to ask yourself a question – which car do I like to buy? Say you like Honda as compared to other cars. Your likeability of Honda or such cars could be measured on the positive side of the x-axis and likewise, if you don’t like some car, that can be measured on the negative side on the x-axis. Now, there could be another dimension to the situation, say, what is the car model in question, if it is a civic or maybe accord, accord, CRV, Odyssey, Element or whatever. Now if you ask yourself that question again – which car do I like? This time you need two dimensions to answer the question which Honda model you like and which you don’t like. Foe the sake of clarity you can do this on the X&Y-axis. But say if there is a choice of multiple colors. You would have to now think/plot a 3-dimention model, say a cube, because you may like a model of Honda in one color but you may not like the same color in another model. Life would be so much easier; it would be so much fun.
But here is the problem. With single dimension analysis of every situation, we will all be wrong most of the time. Since our childhood, maybe that’s why we were sent to school to get educated so that we could gain the knowledge & wisdom which could help us to apply more than one dimension to every situation and we could gain the ability to evaluate and analyze things around us “intelligently” – in multi-dimension.

And because you are not happy, you think it is ok to curse everyone saying that the entire immigration system cannot be fixed because IV has reputation system. The reason I say all this is, I have fundamental difference with the folks who do not like reputation system but continue to look at it and complain about it, even when they have the choice not to look at the reputation system. The problem doesn’t end there. Every week there is someone complaining about the reputations left for that guy, and I just have an intellectual disagreement with that behavior. And I do not have anything against you or anyone else, I am sure you are a good man with a kind heart.

The law seems to have changes due to AC21, I don't think we can get any actual data of any one who got his GC after AC21 and has already converted to citizenship.
It would be really great if IV can contact USCIS and get an official guideline on this topic.

Yes, the video was submitted by mbawa2574 before. I also felt better after watching the news on a national TV. I think finally our problems are getting some attention. With the San Jose rally, Flower campaign and hopefully rallies in other cities (which should happen sooner before this issue dies down), we have a very good chance of getting a positive outcome.

I was also asked to appear for FP in my attorney's location. Instead, I went to the nearest ASC with my spouse whose FP was in the correct location ahead of my date. I successfully got my FP done. There is a thread "FP in wrong city" where other people had similar issues.
From my experience, talking to lawyer, USCIS doesn't care as long as you get it done before the due date. Try the local ASC... its always the guard in front who may create an issue. Once you are in, fill in some forms, the ASC doesn't care where you were scheduled.
Imp: Try the local ASC before your scheduled date so that you have time for plan B.

Most of us claim to be highly experienced, highly educated, in diverse fields. A while back there was an announcement about serving for the military and in exchange for the service, you get a green card/ fast track to citizenship. In a similar vein, if there is a progam in place where we commit to educate students in colleges, high schools and other accredited institutions for a certain fixed period (say 1-2 yrs), we earn the green card sooner. This would be more platable. We utilize our skills, teach students, serve the community and shows our commitment to our prospective adopted country. It fits in like a glove with what President Obama is calling on citizens to do, his "army of teachers" ready made
This way we will be able to channelize positive support and there will be nothing that antis could argue against.

- What does corruption-back-home has to do with it? There is a more open political discourse here. We should either participate and let them know what we want, or they will do whatever they want ( like they tried to reduce EB quota to 90,000 in the last CIR).
- I have been to many lawmaker Offices in Michigan, I have visited several lawmaker offices in DC (both in and out of Michigan). Over that, I went and testified before MI Senate Transportation committee when they were denying Driving Licences to all foreign workers.
If you think they delayed your EAD for 120 days, why do you think they approved mine in 2 months flat, for full 2 years, even synchronizing the expiry date of the EAD with the validity of the new one (meaning, I didn't lose a single day)? May be they were angry that you weren't trying hard enough? :-)

For those who are NOT US Citizens or Permanent Residents, all the transactions like address change/renewal have to be done in person in TX. No online or mail access.
