1. Were n't you concerned with the security of this country. Have one more Id in your wallet. How does it matter? You are ready to do whatever this country asks you just because you are a non-immigrant.
2. Again I don't get your reasoning. How does immigration status verification ensure the security of this country ? Come up with some logical points.
Do you know that there are citizens from terror breeding countries roaming around in this country as citizens ( because they are not subject to country quota), whereas people from democratic countries like India being subject to all kinds of discrimination just because we are non-immigrants ( indirectly because we are subject to country cap) ?
It took a Martin Luther King to liberate blacks from slavery.
It took Mahatma Gandhi to get Independence for millions of Indians.
I am not assuming all individuals will have the same level of dignity and self respect. If you lack enough self respect, you will probably say US can ask us to wear a chain around our neck just because we are non-immigrants.

This is email got from German Consulate at Washington DC to my collegue.
German Cosulate Rep at DC: You wrote that your visa for the United States already expired in September 2010. Therefore you do not fall under Exception Nr. 2. This exception is meant for persons travelling to the US holding a valid US-visa (e.g. a visitors visa with one entry) on their way travelling to the US (Exception 1) and travelling back to their home country during the validity dates of this same visa, but already having used it for entering the US (Exception2) . I hope this clarifies your additional question. I suggest that you apply for an Airport Transit Visa as soon as possible to avoid any problems when travelling back to India via Frankfurt airport.

As is I am going through so much injustice in life, having spent 12 years in this country and still waiting for GC bcos of this stupid EB3 mess, and now the germans decide to harrass me by asking for transit visa ? Not that I dont want to follow rules, but after spending 12 years waiting for GC, I am glad that I broke atleast one rule, of travelling through frankfurt to and from india without the damned transit visa. Of course I was travelling alone, and my family was not travelling , and hence I could risk it out. This does in no way prevent anybody in this forum or the world from not getting transit visa and continue to be opressed by the germans. Folks, I have just told my experience, rest is upto you if you want to get the transit visa .

For a moment, leave the IIT/merit/experience arguments aside...fact is US graduate schools get taxpayer funds...and one way or other students graduating in US get benefit from those taxes. Senators do not want their tax $$ investments to leave the country...that only is the reason they did something for US graduates in H1...this separate quota may or may not fly...as there is no direct benefit for US...stay on H1B and pay taxes good for usa :cool:

If you have current AP, you can travel while your AP renewal is pending. AP renewal will be from the date when your current AP expire.
In other discussions it is mentioned that if I-485 is pending & you are applying for renewal you don't need this letter.
BTW, i just read this in the I-131 instructions, so if i hold a valid AP now and apply for renewal and go to India and enter back using the existing AP, does it mean my pending I-131 renewal will be abondoned? :confused:

I request everybody to add one line in the letter for Consular processing filers as they should be allowed to get AC21 and EAD facilities now. This law came earlier only for 485 filers because CP process was fast but now due to retrogession all CP filers are waiting for Years and in the worst sitauation as 485 filers are enjoying their freedom with AC21 and EAD
Immmigration Voice I'll appreciate if you could add this agenda in you campaign letter.

According to my lawyer, I-485 is applied by the applicant directly & not by company or lawyer. So, if you have received the I-485 receipts to your own address, then you will received RFE to your home address.

I just saw the USCIS GC approval email notice - EB2-I - Dec 20'th 2005 Priority Date
I have same issue as few others have. I'm not married yet. I have applied for GC and luckily the GC has been approved (when I really don't want it to be approved). ... Trust me I was praying god all the time.
My priority date is EB2-I Dec 20'th 2005 and god knows how they approved it much before every one else. When all others really want their GC's.
There are lots people who are in queue with Jan 2004 and later priority dates and whose cases are still pending... How could they approve my case so soon...
I have scheduled for a travel to India on August 15'th 2008 to get married. I wanted to marry and get my wife to USA. I 'm engaged with girl at India and all set for marriage this month (August 2008).
I believe my H1-B has been automatically canceled on immediate approval of GC.
How do I get my future wife to USA?. What are the options left out to me now?.
Please excuse me if this is a duplicate thread. I'm really in hurry and could not check all threads properly.

I just don't like the tone of after getting work with a valid permit, then suddenly, one turns against those who are applying for work permit for the fear that they may take his job.
The anti-immigrants also fear that the immigrants are taking their jobs or lowering their wages atleast.

I agree with you. I just don't like the attitude of people who have got green card or EAD. Once they have it they want to stop all the immigration. Try too have a conversation with GC or EAD holder !!

This means during my stay in US, around 3.5 million people have got GC, but I still never had problem in finding job with H1. Yes it is more difficult but definately possible. India rejected both Boeing and Lockheed Martin's proposal of fighters . I am not debating the reasons or the merits of this decision if this was right or wrong . I am just discussing the potential repercussions this has had so far and might have .

1) The issue is so serious that Tim Roemer , US Ambassador to India submitted his resignation immediately since he was on the hook for making this deal work .This shows the measure of disappointment they had.
2) India was seeking US assurances in security a Permanent Security council seat , which looks far fetched now .
4) Pentagon , Whitehouse and the DoD very upset that deal fell through . This sentiment will certainly percolate to the USCIS and the State department and might embolden Anti Immigration senators whose measures will get more support in the house and senate.
5) Prosecution of companies entangled in cases like Infosys might find more support and favor with the Govt.
Question is how/if there will be a backlash against India / Indian's get back at us at least in the short term .Increased scrutiny and visa denials , PoE Harassment , GC audits etc.
Will the US take a Tit-for-Tat reaction on this issue is what remains to be seen.
